وَكُؤوسٍ إِذا دَجا اللَيلُ دارَت
تَحتَ سَقفٍ مُرَصَّعٍ بِاللُجَينِ
And goblets, when night grew dark, passed around
beneath a ceiling inlaid with silver;
وَكَأَنَّ الهِلالَ مِرآةُ تِبرٍ
يَنجَلي كُلَّ لَيلَةٍ إِصبَعَينِ
and the crescent seemed a mirror of pure gold,
growing clear by two finger-widths each night.
