رَكِبتُ أَعجازَ لَيالٍ مُظلِمَه
مُطَرَّزاتٍ بِالصَباحِ مُعلَمَه
I rode the haunches of dark nights,
embroidered with morning, emblazoned;
أَخطَرُ في بُردَتِها المُسَهَّمَه
وَالرَوضُ في حُلَّتِهِ المُنَمنَمَه
I strode proudly in their arrow-patterned mantle,
while the meadow, in its finely figured robe—
قَد نَثَرَ اللَيلُ عَلَيهِ أَنجُمَه
وَالنَبتُ قَد دَنَّرَهُ وَدَرهَمَه
its stars had scattered pearls upon it,
and the plants had adorned it: dinared it with gold, dirhamed it with silver.
