فَظاهِرُها لِلناسِ رُكنٌ مُقَبَّلٌ
وَباطِنُها عَينٌ مِنَ الجودِ عَيلَمُ
Thus its outer face, to the people, is a corner they kiss;
And its inner face is a copious spring of generosity.
هُوَ البَحرُ لا عَينَ مِنَ الجودِ عَيلَمُ
عَفاءٌ عَلى عَينٍ مِنَ الجودِ عَيلَمُ
He is the sea, no mere copious spring of generosity.
Let oblivion fall upon a copious spring of generosity!
يُجَلُّ عَنِ التَقبيلِ ظاهِرَ كَفِّهِ
وَباطِنُها عَن أَن تُقاسَ بِزَمزَمِ
The back of his hand is too exalted for kissing,
and its palm too exalted to be compared with Zamzam.
