Welcome goodness in a noble child,
pure of whatever disgraces mankind.
A sun by day and a full moon by night,
he captivates the eyes of all who behold him.
He fills them with delight whenever
he unveils his noble face.
I was blessed with him, perfect and sound—
while the flaws of those who fault him abound.
Fruit delicious to the taste and sweet,
within easy reach of the hand that plucks it.
Before long, he will become a valiant man,
through whom his enemies’ fortunes will founder.
So live, assured of good,
until you see his sons turn gray.
