وَحَطَّ بِها أَكوارَ خوصٍ لَواغِبٍ
يُقلِلُ إِكثارُ الذَميلِ ذَميلَها
There the saddles of weary, hollow-eyed camels were set down;
too much swift pacing had diminished their pace.
نُغِض عَبرَةً حَلَّ الفِراقُ عِقالَها
وَأَقلَقَ هِجرانُ الحَبيبِ مَقيلَها
We hold back a tear whose hobble parting has loosed,
and whose resting place estrangement from the beloved has disturbed.
فَلا غَروَ أَن فاضَت دُموعُ مُتَيَّمٍ
عَلى الدارِ يَسقي طَلُّهُنَّ طُلولَها
No wonder, then, that the tears of one enslaved by love overflow
upon the dwelling— their gentle shower watering its ruins.
