Indeed, Abu ʿAmr has a beard
whose parts lie far apart from one another.
He went off to the market, while his great beard
stayed at home and did not go.
And whenever he passes through an alley,
he fills it lengthwise and breadthwise.
People tread on it with their feet,
as though it were earth laid upon the earth.
