1. To endure separation from one you love—that is true endurance.

    The benefit of one who reproaches in love is harm.

  3. The benefit of patience does not come at once,

    and the turns of fortune may intervene before it arrives.

  4. So rise and come with us; let us seek our aims,

    whether fate keeps us here or does not.

  5. For we possess spirits that raise us to mastery,

    whether time assists them or leaves them unaided.

  6. Seek from life whatever brings you joy,

    whether people reproach you for it or excuse you.
