وَهَيَّجَت لِيَ مِن شَوقٍ وَمِن فَرَحٍ
أَيدٍ نَثَرنَ عَلى الأَوتارِ أَعنابا
And stirred in me both longing and joy—
She aroused in me, from longing and joy
hands that scattered grapes upon the strings.
Hands that cast on the strings bunches of grapes
لا عَيبَ في العَيشِ إِلّا خَوفَ غَيبَتُكُم
إِنَّ السُرورَ إِذا ما غِبتُمُ غابا
Life has no flaw except the fear of your absence;
No fault in living but fear of losing you
for whenever you are gone, joy too is gone.
For joy itself is lost when you’re away
