يَركَبُ الأُقحُوانَ فيها نَهاراً
فَتَرى دِرهَماً عَلى دينارِ
By day, the chrysanthemum rides there,
and you behold a silver dirham upon a golden dinar.
فُرِشَت فَوقَها فَرائِدُ طَلٍّ
عَلِقَت بِالنَباتِ وَالأَشِجارِ
Above it were spread matchless pearls of dew,
suspended upon the plants and trees;
وَتَدَلَّت عَلى الغُصونِ فَجاءَت
كَشُنوفِ الكَواعِبِ الأَبكارِ
they dangled from the boughs and appeared
like the earrings of nubile virgin maidens.
