Separation has made me a target for doom.
May God grant no profit to separation’s bargain!
My day and my night have grown long in yearning for them,
though in their company both had always been short.
The span of the two used to seem brief to me,
so I called them “the Two New Ones.”
With the beloved far away, their lingering lengthened,
and I came to call them “the Two Ancient Ones.”
