راحٌ إِذا ما اللَيلُ مَدَّ رُواقَهُ
لاحَت تُطَرِّزُ حُلَّةَ الظَلماءِ
A wine that, whenever night spreads its pavilion,
gleams, embroidering the robe of darkness;
حَتّى إِذا مُزِجَت أَراكَ حُبابُها
زَهَراتِ أَرضٍ أَو نُجومَ سَماءِ
until, once it is mixed, its bubbles reveal to you
flowers of earth—or stars of heaven.
