Spring has shown us, out of the beauty of its handiwork,
likenesses matching one another in form and appearance:
their outer surfaces green, their interiors white,
like fine Egyptian linen beneath lustrous silk.
Its matching forms are white amid tightly gathered green,
like emerald folded over pearls.
Their green casing splits open to reveal a dazzling white,
like a gleaming smile beneath a green mustache.
