1. Look at how the desert has adorned itself,

And how the rain clouds shed their tears.

  2. On the hilltops are robes embroidered by the rain:

Some striped, some banded, some patterned.

  3. The garments of the rain clouds contain silk,

And the resting places of the dew are richly adorned.

  4. The winds whisper tales across the meadows,

Reminding you of camphor as it is blended.

  5. On the slopes is a robe of daisies,

And on the heights, a mantle of anemones.

  6. In the evening the winds tease apart the clouds

Like cotton carded against blue garments.

  7. The rain falls, bright and pure white,

Then becomes a flood, dusty and dark.

  8. Lightning flashes like a sword drawn from its sheath,

And the flood runs like a crawling snake.

  9. Its gapped and crimson-streaked forms captivate you,

As do its straight, curved, and slender forms.
