ركبتُ حمارَ الكرا

ركبتُ حمارَ الكرا

لقلَّة مَن يُعتَرى

لقلَّة مَن يُعتَرى

I mounted the donkey of slumber,

for lack of anyone to call upon;

وإنَّ ذوي المكرما

وإنَّ ذوي المكرما

تِ قد أصبحوا في الثرى

تِ قد أصبحوا في الثرى

and indeed, people of noble deeds

have now come to lie beneath the dust.
