قالوا اعتلتَ فقلتُ كل

لا إنَّما اعتلَّ العبادُ

لا إنَّما اعتلَّ العبادُ

They said, “You have fallen ill.” I said, “Not at

all! Rather, the people have fallen ill,

والدينُ والدنيا لِعِلَّ

والدينُ والدنيا لِعِلَّ

تِهِ وأظلمتِ البلادُ

تِهِ وأظلمتِ البلادُ

along with religion and this world, because of his ill—

ness; and the land grew dark.”
