A young man from the clan of Khāqān has appeared

With a cheek whose brightness makes the sun seem dim

He has learned from the gazelles how to dart about

Passing by and returning playfully like a wave

He raced past us chasing a she-goat

Which shied from him as my heart quailed

I marvel at this gazelle who dares attack a bird

When his eyes have slain a fierce lion

Does this bird not realize you are a predator?

Has he not seen the livers of men my bow split open
