أسامِعَ أَخبار الرَسول لَكَ البُشرى
لَقَد سُدتَ في الدُنيا وَقَد فُزتَ في الأُخرى
I hear the tidings of the Messenger bringing you glad tidings
You have succeeded in this world and triumphed in the next
تشنف آذانا بِعقد جَواهر
تَوَدُّ الغَواني لَو تُقَلِّدُهُ النَحرا
Ears adorned with a string of gems
The hearts wish they could wear it around their necks
جَواهركم حَلَّت نُفوساً نَفيسَةً
فَحَلت بِها صَدراً وَجَلَّت بِها قَدرا
Your gems have adorned noble souls
Thus honoring them and raising their worth
هَل الدين إِلا ما رَوته أَكابر
لَنا نَقلوا الأَخبارَ عَن طيبِ خِبرا
What is religion but what the great ones have narrated
They conveyed to us reports of good tiding
وَأَدَّوا أَحاديثَ الرَسول مَصونَةً
عَن الزَيفِ وَالتَصحيفِ فَاستَوجَبوا الشُكرا
And presented the Prophet's hadiths protected
From falsity and distortion, deserving thanks
وَإِنَّ البخاريَّ الإمامَ لجامِعٌ
بِجامِعه مِنها اليواقيت وَالدرا
Indeed al-Bukhari the Imam compiled
In his compilation gems and pearls
عَلى مَفرقِ الإسلام تاجٌ مُرَصَّعٌ
أَضاءَ بِهِ شَمساً وَنارَ بِهِ بَدرا
A bejeweled crown atop the Islamic nation
It illuminated a sun and ignited a full moon
وَبحرُ عُلوم يَلفظُ الدُرَّ لا الحَصا
فَأَنفِس بِهِ دُراً وَأَعظِم بِهِ بَحرا
An ocean of knowledge giving forth pearls not pebbles
So extract from it pearls and make of it a vast sea
تَصانيفه نَورٌ وَنُورٌ لناظرٍ
فَقَد أَشرَقَت زهراً وَقَد أَينَعت زهرا
His books are a light and a light for the observer
They have shone radiantly and yielded ripe fruit
نَحا سُنَّةَ المُختارِ يِنظم شَتَّها
يلخصُها جَمعاً وَيخلصها تِبرا
He followed the chosen Prophet’s way, compiling his scattered traces
Summarizing them concisely and refining them utterly
وَكَم بَذَلَ النَفسَ المَصونةَ جاهِداً
فَجازَ لَها بَحراً وَجابَ لَها بَرا
How much his protected soul strove
Traversing land and sea in diligence
فَطوراً عراقياً وَطوراً يَمانيا
وَطوراً حِجازياً وَطوراً أَتى مِصرا
From Iraq to Yemen
To Hejaz and on to Egypt
إِلى أَن حَوى مِنها الصَحيحَ صَحيحُه
فَوافى كِتابا قَد غَدا الآيةَ الكُبرى
Until he compiled in his Sahih the authentic
Fulfilling the greatest of verses
كِتابٌ لَهُ مِن شَرعِ أَحمَدَ شِرعَةٌ
مُطهرةٌ تَعلو السِماكينِ وَالنَسرا
A book for him part of Ahmad’s law
A purification transcending the two heights and the eagle
