1. Take a good omen from her radiant brow, whose light is the sun.

    It lit the darkness of the days, and confusion cleared.

  2. And visit the one who sustains a Nasiriyya state,

    Surrounded by good fortune, victory, and companionship.

  3. A splendid, noble man took charge of its affairs,

    Ever watchful, marked by generosity and courage.

  4. Whoever has Sayf al-Din as deputy over his kingdom

    May sleep while the eyes of time grow drowsy over it.

  5. An experienced prince, skilled in battle and government,

    In whose high station the steed and the written page compete.

  6. It is as though humankind were a body whose cure rests with you,

    And your command in governing it were its spirit and soul.

  7. To him all noble qualities trace their lineage and come to rest,

    So in his person humankind, kind and kin alike, takes pride.

  8. He takes lives when they rebel and benefits them

    When they obey; thus he wounds or heals.

  9. Every describer falls short of grasping him,

    Even if he were Bakr and Quss lent him aid.
