فلأبعثن مع الرياح قصيدةً
مني مفلفة الى القعقاعِ
Then surely I shall send a poem upon the winds—
I will send with the winds a poem
from me, tightly folded, to al-Qaʿqāʿ.
From me, intricately woven, to the horizon
ترد المناهل لا تزالُ غريبة
في القومِ بين تمتع وسماعِ
It will visit the watering places, ever a stranger
It will quench thirsts, and remain a stranger
among the people, passing between delight and attentive hearing.
