ولما رأى أجبال سنجار أعرضت

يميناً وأجبالاً بهن سروجُ

When he saw the mountains of Sanjar turn aside

To the right, mountains with streaming lights,

ذرى عبرة لو لم تفض لتقضقضت

حيازيم محزون لهن نشيج

He shed a tear, that had it not been flowing already

Would have cracked the sorrowing heart inside.
