لَمْ يَغْدُ شُكرُكَ في الخَلائِقِ مطلقاً

إِلا ومالُكَ في النَّوالِ حَبيسُ

Your gratitude among creatures was never

Absolute, without your wealth being imprisoned in bestowal,

خَوَّلْتَنا شَمْساً وبَدْراً أَشْرَقَتْ

بِهِما لَدَيْنا الظُّلْمَةُ الحِنْديسُ

You granted us a sun and a moon that shone

With them, the darkness for us became splendid,

رشأ أَتانا وهو حسناً يُوسُفٌ

وغَزَالَةٌ هي بَهْجَةً بلْقيسُ

Joseph came to us beautiful

And a doe that was Bahja of Bilqis

هَذا ولَمْ تَقْنَعْ بِذاكَ وهَذِهِ

حَتَّى بَعَثْتَ المالَ وهُوَ نَفيسُ

That wasn’t enough and these weren’t enough

Until you sent wealth and it is precious

أَتَتِ الوَصِيفَةُ وهي تَحْمِلُ بَدْرَةً

وأَتى عَلى ظَهْرِ الوَصيفِ الكِيسُ

The maid came carrying the full moon

And the purse came on the back of the messenger

وَكَسَوْتَنا مِمّا أَجادَتْ حَوْكَهُ

مِصْرٌ وزَادَتْ حُسْنَهُ تِنّيسُ

You clothed us with what Egypt knitted perfectly

And Tinnis increased its beauty

فَغَدا لَنا من جودِكَ المَأْكُولُ وال

مَشْروبُ والمَنْكُوحُ والمَلْبوسُ

So by your generosity, we had edibles, drinks
