وَبَدْرِ دُجَىً يَمْشي بِهِ غُصُنٌ رَطْبُ
دَنا نُورُه لَكِنْ تَناوُلُهُ صَعْبُ
By a full moon in the darkness, borne along by a tender bough—
His light draws near, yet he himself is hard to reach.
إِذا ما بَدا أَغْرَى بِهِ كُلَّ نَاظِرٍ
كأَنَّ قُلوبَ النّاسِ في حُبِّهِ قَلْبُ
Whenever he appears, he captivates every beholder,
As though all people’s hearts, in love of him, were one.
