The physician made Glory’s blood flow, and bandages were bound
upon the forearm of Loftiness—those very bands.
If the prince’s fresh blood gleamed upon his upper arm
that morning, when streaming tresses of it ran from him into the basin,
then no marvel if the keen sword’s edge is touched
by blood—it is polished on both edges, a cleaving blade.
And with a lion of the wilds, the eye does not find it strange to see
its paws dyed—and its claws as well.
