قَامَ مِثْلَ الغُصُنِ المَيْ
يادِ في غَضِّ الشَّبابِ
He rose like a swaying bough,
in the fresh bloom of youth,
يمزج الخمر لنا بالصْ
صفْوِ مِنْ مَاءِ الرُّضابِ
mingling the wine for us with the pure essence
of the nectar of his lips.
فكَأَنَّ الكَأْسَ لَمّا
ضَحِكَتْ تَحْتَ الحبابِ
So the goblet seemed, when
it smiled beneath the bubbles,
وجْنَةٌ حَمْراءُ لاحَتْ
لَكَ مِنْ تَحْتِ النِّقابِ
a crimson cheek appearing
to you from beneath the veil.
