أهلاً بكم ومرحب
يا ساكنين أرحب
Welcome, welcome
O dwellers of the most hospitable land
بل ساكني فؤادي
قربتم وأنا أقرب
Nay, dwellers of my heart
You have come near and I come nearer
إليكم وأطرب
في خالص الوداد
To you, rejoicing
In the sincerity of affection
فكم للّه من نفحات
وكم في العمر من ساعات
How many breaths of grace from Allah
How many hours in life
وكم في الدهر من فلتات
تأتي بكلّ مطلب
How many twists of fate
That bring every wish
من مغنم ومرغب
والسول والمرادي
Of gain and desirability
My obstinacy and stubbornness
قد طاب كلّ مشرب
نسر به ونطرب
Have found every drink pleasant
I soar with it and rejoice
وصلا به عنادي
القرب بالمسافه
And reconcile with it my obstinacy
Nearness in distance
لا بدّ فيه آفه
القرب قرب الأرواح
Will inevitably bring harm
Nearness is nearness of spirits
والسرّ للطافه
والجزم للكثافه
And subtlety for refinement
And insistence for density
لا عبرة بالأشباح
إذا قد صحت النيه
No heed to apparitions
When the intention is sound
ففيها غاية البغية
ولو لم تحصل الرؤيه
For in it lies the goal of seeking
Even if vision does not transpire
أو يس ولي للرب
ما للنبي أصحب
Woe to me for the Lord
What for the Prophet, my companion
ما شطّ بالبعاد
من النبي المقرّب
What pleasure in distance
From the Prophet brought near
بل قال فيه وأطنب
يشفع في المعاد
Rather he said, elaborating
He will intercede on the Day of Judgement
فكم من قريب داره
ما فاده مزاره
So how many a neighbor, his house
Did not benefit from his shrine
كابن أبيّ وغيره
لما كثر ضراره
Like the son of Abu and others
When their harm increased
فما نفع جواره
بل استدام كفره
So his proximity did not benefit
Rather, his disbelief persisted
فأعمال القلوب أسرع
إلى جهة الرضا وأنفع
The deeds of hearts are quicker
To the side of pleasure and more beneficial
وللخيرات هي أجمع
صحيح ذا مجرّب
And for virtues they are most comprehensive
True, this is proven
موسى لنا تقرّب
تسود في العباد
Moses drew near to us
Prevailing among worshippers
منسبي خير منسب
إلى النبي المهذّب
Attributed to me, the best lineage
To the refined Prophet
فريد من سعاد
Unique in fortune
