The nightingale sings
A melody in the darkness of the nights
Reminding the lover
Of nights of intimacy and union
So it clothed me in worry
Longing for the one I love, while my state is narrowed
And my heart is sick
The fire of estrangement burns inside me
My liver melted and my heart yearns
And my tears on my cheek
Flow profusely
Also, sleep eluded my eyelids
A lovesick, obsessed lover
My people did not elegy for me
Suffering and worried
In your love I am passionate while you are indifferent
How much sweetness we tasted
For the sick lover, tortured
And the body is tired
From the fire you lit inside me
No, and the One who created us
Did not make you affectionate or loving towards us
The infatuated one knew
I loved you and you wanted separation
Do not kill me unjustly, my beloved
My wish among people, my healer
You have towards me what no one knows
In you, my intimate friend
I have tasted the bitterness, such is my state
From you I cannot smell
Carry my burden as the camel does
My charmer, be gentle
By God, do not neglect a loving companion
You have made me delicate, be affectionate
By uniting, that is your aim in my torment
The mind has weakened
Since the day I loved you, my youth is lost
Always infatuated
With your love, O Yusuf of beauty
O one with beautiful eyes, O one with a shining cheek
Delicate hands, tall in stature
Pomegranate calves, unique full moon
How much, how much, how much, how much
How much shall I praise you, O embodiment of beauty
And the poem concludes
With the Guided One from misguidance
