عوائد اللَه الجميل

فكن ظنونك بالجميل جميله

The beautiful returns of God

So let your assumptions be beautiful assumptions

فان جهدك مستحيل

ما قد قضى ما عاد فيه حيله

For your effort is impossible

What has been decreed, there is no trick to change it

ان التضجر والعويل

طبع الجبان والذلة الرذيله

Indeed frustration and lamentation

Are the nature of the cowardly and despicable

فمدّتك فيها قليل

واستقبلتك أيامك الطويله

So your time in it is little

And your long days have received you

أمامك الحبت الطويل

لا تقطعه ليله ولا ألف ليله

Before you is the long love

Do not cut it, not for a night nor a thousand nights

فكن تاهب للرحيل

من زاده التقوى سهل سبيله

So be prepared for departure

Whoever's provision is piety, his path is easy

اصبر واحذر أن تميل

إلى الجباية تحرم الفضيله

Be patient and beware of leaning

Towards tyranny, it deprives of virtue

محال أن يرقا الذليل

في المعالي رتبة جليله

It is impossible for the lowly

To attain a lofty rank

كم جيل يتبع اثر جيل

وكم قبيله اثرها قبيله

How many a generation follows the trace of a generation

And how many a tribe follows the trace of a tribe

أفناهم الربّ الجليل

فما التوطن أيها الخذيله

The Almighty Lord destroyed them

So do not settle, O despicable one

لا بدّ لك من عزرئيل

وربّ غصة بعدها مهوله

You cannot avoid Azrael

And a grievous torment after it

لكن عطا المولى جزيل

شفيعنا المختار ذو الوسيله

But the Master has given abundantly

Our intercessor, the chosen one, the means

شافع مشفع في النقيل

يا سعد من حمولته ثقيله

An intercessor interceding in the place of judgment

Oh happiness for he whose load is heavy
