1. تقول ما حالهم بعدي

    هل هم على العهد لي باقين

    You ask how are they after me

    Are they still faithful to the covenant with me

  2. هل هم على العهد والودّ

    أم قد تناسوها بطول السنين

    Are they still faithful to the covenant and affection

    Or have they forgotten it after many years

  3. أما أنا لم أخن عهدي

    أذكرهم كلّ وقت وحين

    As for me, I have not betrayed my covenant

    I remember them all the time

  4. ما رفرف البرق من نجد

    إلا وذكرني النازحين

    Whenever lightning flashed from Najd

    It reminded me of the emigrants

  5. رعيا لوقت مضى

    فيه الصفا ولرضا

    Yearning for days gone by

    Filled with harmony and contentment

  6. يا ساكنين الغضا

    من أيمن الطلح والرند

    O inhabitants of the meadows

    Of the myrtle, wild thyme and silver fox

  7. والقلب مني مع النازلين

    وجدي على بعدهم وجدي

    My heart is with the settlers

    My love for them from afar and my love up close

  8. وكم أصفق بيسرى يمين

    واللَه ما كان في وهمي

    How I clap with my right hand

    By Allah, it never occurred to me

  9. أن أرتضي بعد ليلي بديل

    والآن ذا منتهى علمي

    To be pleased after my night with a substitute

    And now this is the extent of my knowledge

  10. مخالفة ما قضى مستحيل

    سقاهم اللَه بالوسمى

    To go against what is destined is impossible

    May Allah water them with rain

  11. تحيا به أرضهم والنخيل

    قم شدّ لي البزل الوخد

    To revive their land and palms

    Get up and tie the saddlecloth for me

  12. إن كنت لي يا حويدي ظنين

    إلى تريم المنا

    If you really think well of me, O Hawidi

    To Tarim of Ma'na

  13. فقد بعد عهدنا

    يا ربنا لقنا

    For our covenant has become distant

    Oh Lord, teach us

  14. كم ذا تمنى ولم يجدى

    يا ربنا لقنا باليقين

    How much was wished but did not avail

    Oh Lord, provide us with certainty

  15. يزول عن باطني وقدّي

    بالقرب يا غارة الصالحين

    To remove my core and resolve

    With nearness, O cave of the righteous

  16. سازور شيخي ومحبوبي

    سعد السويني التقى السعيد

    My sheikh and beloved

    Saad al-Sueini, the devout and fortunate

  17. فذاك سولي ومطلوبي

    وليس أطلب على ذا مزيد

    For he is my solicitor and sought

    And I do not seek more than him

  18. يا سعد هل تجبروا صوبى

    لا تصرموا حبل أقلّ العبيد

    O Saad, will you mend my home

    Do not cut off the rope of the lowliest slave

  19. انا الذي خانني جهدي

    وليس لي غيركم من معين

    It is I who failed myself

    And I have no one but you all to help me

  20. يجوز يا أهل الحما

    زلالكم قد طما

    It is permissible, O people of Hima

    Your shadows have lengthened

  21. وأنا أموت بالظما

    شا أقصدوهم غاية القصد

    And I am dying of thirst

    Make haste to them, the epitome of determination

  22. محمد سيد المرسلين

    هو جدّنا نعم من جدّ

    Muhammad, the master of messengers

    He is our grandfather, yes, from a grandfather

  23. نفخر بنسبته في العالمين

    We pride ourselves on being related to him among all people
