1. إن التحسر للأمور الماضيه

    والفكر من أجل الأمور الآتيه

    Lamenting what is past,

    And thinking of what's to come,

  2. صارت بها أوقاتنا متلاشيه

    لِلّه درّ أهل القلوب الخاليه

    Have made our time vanish.

    Praise be to God, Lord of empty hearts,

  3. عما سوى معبودها الساليه

    هذا هو الملك الصحيح

    Turned only to their worshipped Eternal.

    This is true kingship,

  4. ومرهم القلب الجريح

    صاحبه أبدا مستريح

    And balm for the wounded heart.

    With it one is ever serene,

  5. بل هذه لا شك جنه ثانيه

    قد عجلت لأهل القلوب الصافيه

    Indeed this is a second paradise,

    Swiftly gained by pure hearts.

  6. وكلها حضرت إذا قدلك حضور

    وهي حرم إن كان لك حرمه ونور

    All are present when You are present,

    A sanctuary, if You are its sanctuary and light.

  7. ما ظلمة تبقى مع شمس ونور

    أعنى بها شمس اليقين الباهيه

    No darkness remains with sun and light.

    I mean by this the brilliant sun of certainty,

  8. إذا بدت في أبراجها العاليه

    من كان له قلب مشوق

    When it rises in its high celestial spheres.

    Whose heart yearns,

  9. وعنده طرب وتوق

    فهذه ثمره وذوق

    And holds passion and longing,

    This is the fruit and taste,

  10. أشجارها لأربابها متدانيه

    تبدى بأنواع الثمار الحاليه

    Of trees brought near for their keepers,

    Displaying their timely fruits.

  11. ما ليلة القدر التي قد عظمت

    أو جنة الفردوس إذ هي زخرفت

    What night of destiny so extolled?

    Or Paradise of Eden, however adorned,

  12. في جنب صفو أهل اليقين إذا انجلت

    عنهم حجابات البعاد البينه

    Compared to the clarity of the certain,

    When veils of separation dropped from them,

  13. وصحت الرؤية لهم والأمنيه

    فيا سكارى الذنوب

    And visions and hopes were fulfilled?

    O drunk with sins,

  14. ويا أسارى العيوب

    صفوا لمولاها القلوب

    O chained by faults,

    Purify your hearts for their Lord.

  15. يا حسرتي أين القلوب الواعيه

    ليس القلوب النائيه كالدانيه

    Would that hearts awake

    Knew the close are not as the distant.
