إن كنت منبسطاً والقلب منشرحا

والنوم منغير بأس منك منتزحا

If you're feeling happy, with an open heart,

And sleeping well, without distress or ache,

وأنت يا سيدي تهوى مسامرة

لذكر أيام وصل تذهب الترحا

And you, my lord, enjoy conversation

Of days of union that make sadness break,

فذا مكان ووقت والوداد صفا

والهمّ والغمّ لا عاد قد انتزحا

Then this is the place, time and sincere love,

Concerns and sorrows no longer awake,

هلم أهلا وسهلا مرحبا بكم

فالدهر بالوصل يا محبوب قد سمحا

Welcome, hello and greetings to you all,

For time with union, my beloved, did make.

ودار كأس الهوى صرفا فأسكرنا

لا عاش من ذاق الحبّ ثم صحا

The house of the cup of love poured till drunk,

None lives who tasted love then stayed awake,

وطاب عيشاً بها نشوانها أبداً

وخاب من لم يذق من صرفه قدحا

And happy living with it brings joy forever,

While disappointed is he who didn't partake,

ما أطيب الوصل لولا ما يكدّره

من النوى ذكره للقلب قد جرحا

How sweet is union if not what spoils it,

The intention, remembering, makes the heart break.
