سال دمعي شنان

من بواعث وأشجان

My tears asked what sorrows

And anguishes caused their outflow

يا لطيف يا منان

جد لنا بالأمان

O Gentle, O Bestower

Grant us safety anew

يا وسيع الاحسان

هل فرج للولهان

O Vast in benefaction

Is there relief for the perplexed?

فعليك التكلان

وأنت المستعان

On You we depend

You are the One sought for aid

كن ذنوب كم عصيان

كم عيوب كم طغيان

Many are our sins and disobedience

Countless our faults and tyranny

وتقضي الأزمان

والعمر منا فان

As time passes away

And our life wanes

أسألك يا حنان

يا رحيم يا رحمان

I ask You, O Affectionate One

O Merciful, O Compassionate

جد لنا بالغفران

ثم اسكنا الجنان

Bestow on us forgiveness

And settle us in Paradise

قم تدارك أعمال

يا قبيح الأفعال

Arise, make good our deeds

O Ugly of actions

إن كذوب الآمال

دوب تغدو محال

False are the hopes

Melting away, becoming vain

لا يغرك امهال

والسعود والاقبال

Let not respite deceive you

Nor fortune and prosperity

ان سرعة الآجال

أقرب فينا مجال

Lo, the swiftness of terms

For us, the place is near

انتبه يا بطال

من رقاد الجهال

Awaken, O hero

From the slumber of the ignorant

فان عمرك قد طال

والحال قد حال

For long has your life lasted

And the state changed

انتبه يا انسان

ما لعينك انسان

Awaken, O man

What ails your forgetfulness

إلى متى ذا النسيان

والأمر قد حان

How long this oblivion?

The time has come
