إنَّما يخلو أبو العي

ناءِ في صَدْر النهارِ

Pleasant only is Abu al-‘Ay—

—nā’ at the beginning of the day;

فإذا طاولته أر

بى على بُغْض الخُمار

but if you stay in his company long, he out—

—does a hangover in inspiring loathing.
