أقول لصاحبيَّ وقد رأينا

هلالَ الفطر من خلل الغَمامِ

I say to my companion when we saw

The crescent moon of Eid through the clouds

غداً نغدو إلى ما قد ظمئنا

إليه من الملاهي والمدامِ

Tomorrow we will go to what we thirsted for

Of amusements and wine

ونسكرُ سكرة شنعاء جهراً

وينعر في قفا شهر الصيامِ

And we will get drunk loudly

While the month of fasting snarls in the nape
