أسكرتني سكراً بغير شرابِ

أسكرتني سكراً بغير شرابِ

وأتتْ إذْ أتتْ بأمر عُجابِ

وأتتْ إذْ أتتْ بأمر عُجابِ

She intoxicated me—an intoxication without wine;

Intoxicated me without any drink

and when she came, she brought a wondrous thing.

And came when she came with a wondrous affair

لم تُرجِّعْ بآيةٍ من كتاب الل

لم تُرجِّعْ بآيةٍ من كتاب الل

ه حتى نَسيتُ أُمَّ الكتابِ

ه حتى نَسيتُ أُمَّ الكتابِ

She did not chant a verse from the Book of Go—

Did not return with any verse from Allah's book

—d before I forgot the Mother of the Book.

Until I forgot the mother of the book

أذكرتني بصوتها صوتَ داو

أذكرتني بصوتها صوتَ داو

د يُقَرِّي الزَّبور في المحرابِ

د يُقَرِّي الزَّبور في المحرابِ

Her voice recalled to me the voice of Davi—

Reminded me with her voice the voice of David

—d reciting the Psalms in the sanctuary.

آبَ أمرُ الإسلام خيرَ مآبهْ

آبَ أمرُ الإسلام خيرَ مآبهْ

وغدا الملكُ ثابتاً في نصابهْ

وغدا الملكُ ثابتاً في نصابهْ

The cause of Islam returned to the best of homes,

Went the matter of Islam, the best of its outcomes

and sovereignty stood firm in its rightful place;

And the kingdom became stable in its pillars

مستقرّاً قرارُهُ مطمئناً

مستقرّاً قرارُهُ مطمئناً

آهلاً بعد نأيه واغترابهْ

آهلاً بعد نأيه واغترابهْ

its seat established, secure and serene—

Settled its settlement, reassured

welcome home after its distance and exile.

Populated after its remoteness and estrangement

فاحمد الله وحده والتمس بالعفو

فاحمد الله وحده والتمس بالعفو

عمن هفا جزيل ثوابهْ

عمن هفا جزيل ثوابهْ

So praise God alone, and seek, through pardoning

So thank Allah alone and seek forgiveness

those who stumble, the fullness of His reward.
