وعلمتُ أنَّ الدهرَ قد واتاني

وعلمتُ أنَّ الدهرَ قد واتاني

Now my joy is complete in being near you;

Now my joy is complete in your nearness,

and I know that fate has favored me.

حانَ الرحيلُ وحال دون لقائكم

حانَ الرحيلُ وحال دون لقائكم

صَرْفُ الزمان وطارقُ الحدثانِ

The time to depart has come, and barring me from meeting you

The time to depart has come, and barring our meeting

are the vicissitudes of time and calamity’s sudden blow.

Are the vicissitudes of time and the sudden blows of misfortune.

فعليكمُ منِّي السلام مُضاعفاً

فعليكمُ منِّي السلام مُضاعفاً

توديع ذي شَغَفٍ بكم حَيْرانِ

توديع ذي شَغَفٍ بكم حَيْرانِ

So may redoubled peace from me be upon you—

So upon you, from me, be multiplied peace,

the farewell of one bewildered by his passionate love for you.

The farewell of one deeply impassioned by you, bewildered.
