أظن اليوم يهطل بالمدام

فإن الأفق محمر الغمام

I think today the clouds will pour down rain

For the horizon is reddened with clouds

وما عودت حمل الكاس إلا

على سكر الكروم أو الكرام

And I've never carried a cup except

Filled with the intoxication of grapes or generosity

وعهد سماء جودك بالعطايا

كعهد دم الأعادي بالحسام

And your sky of generosity with gifts

Is like the enemies' swords with blood

إذا طلعت شموس الراح فينا

وهبنا كل مسرجة اللجام

When the suns of comfort rise over us

Unbridle us like every freed horse

أبحر الجود في بحر الأماني

وبدر الملك في بدر التمام

Sail the sea of generosity in the sea of wishes

And the full moon of kingship in the full moon of perfection

ومن عبد ابن يوسف صير اسمي

وصير للندى مولى السلامي

And make my name from the slave of Joseph's son

And make the protector of peace guardian of the dew

إذا ركبت أناملنا كميتاً

من الجنب المفضض في لجام

When our fingers ride the perfect

Smooth flank in the bridle

تحيينا بذكرك وانتقلنا

بمدحك دون سادات الانام

You give us life with your remembrance and we move

With your praise below the masters of men

طربت فما أبالي ما ورائي

وقار الراح مشعلة أمامي

I rejoiced so I don't care what's behind me

The scent of comfort is a torch before me

جفون المزن مذ عدمت بواك

لرحمتنا وخد للورد دامي

Since your absence the eyelids of beauty

For our mercy and rose cheeks are my supporters

فأحي بها فتى أحلى مناه

تقدم من فداك الى الحمام

So I will revive through them a youth sweeter than wish

Who for your sacrifice walks to the baths
