  1. Drink, you two, and pour for a young man who keeps company with the

    days, his soul full of desires.

  2. And great souls deem it beneath

    lords to drink with any but the great.

  3. In youth’s neighborhood, we settle in houses

    filled with boughs and moons.

  4. And we pray at the tambours’ call to prayer

    and listen to the melody of the strings,

  5. among people whose prayer leader prostrates himself

    before the cup or bows over the reed pipe.
