لَمّا غَدا يَتَشَكّى
كَسلانُ وَهوَ نَشيطُ
When morning came, complaining
When he came forth complaining,
Of weariness, though fresh and lively,
Languid, yet lively in spirit,
شِطنا عَلَيهِ وَكُنّا
عَلى القَنا لا نَشيطُ
We rated him, while we were languid
We erred against him, though we,
On the road, not lively.
Upon the spears, never err.
