إِذا نادى أَبٌ يا اِبني
أُناديكِ أَتاموري
Whenever a father calls, “O my son,”
When a father calls, "Oh my son!"
When a father calls out, "O my son,"
I call to you, “O core of my heart.”
I call you, my date palm,
I call out to you, "O lifeblood of my heart!"
وَإِن أَطفا الأَسى مطفٍ
مِنَ الدَمعِ أَتى موري
And if an extinguisher quenches sorrow,
And if a quencher quenches grief
And if a quencher extinguishes the sorrow,
from tears a kindler comes.
With tears, date syrup comes to me.
From the tears came my igniter.
