1. العيدُ أنتَ وإن هنّوك بالعيد

    والحسنُ أنتَ وإِن خَالُوكَ في الغِيدِ

    You are the Eid, even if they congratulate you on the Eid,

    And you are Beauty, though they reckon you merely among the fair,

  2. وما مَجازُ كلام من حقيقته

    ولا شهادة علم مثل تقْلِيدِ

    For the metaphor of speech is distinct from its reality,

    Nor is the testimony of true knowledge like mere imitation.
