You were the sun of my day—alas!
My sun of daytime, oh how I miss you
You were the sun of my day—oh, woe is me!
You vanished, and my tears flowed like rivers.
You left, so tears have poured rivers
You vanished, and tears flowed forth like rivers.
On a precipice, I built my hopes upon you;
Upon lips in which I built hopes
Upon a precipice I built my hopes in you,
the edifice had scarcely risen before it fell.
The edifice did not last, it collapsed
And the structure did not tarry before it crumbled.
