1. سكر الصبا هز قدود الحسان

    ام الصبا مالت باغصان بان

    The youth has shaken the slender date palms

    The mother of youth has bent the branches

  2. جلوا رياض الحسن عن أوجه

    هن سواء ورياض الجنان

    Revealing the gardens of beauty before me

    They are equal, and the gardens of Paradise

  3. فالوجنة الورد واجفانها

    النرجس والمبتسم الاقحوان

    With roses and buds opening up

    Narcissuses and laughing chamomiles

  4. يا من رأى من قبلها جنة

    يصلى جحيم الشوق منها الجنان

    O the one who saw a garden before

    Prays for the hell of passion from it is paradise

  5. من كل ريا الردف ظمأى الحشا

    صامتة الخلخال بكر حصان

    From every blooming meadow my thirsty soul

    With anklets silent, a young horse

  6. قد ضمنت اعينها فتنتي

    وما عليها في دمي من ضمان

    Her eyes have guaranteed my infatuation

    And she is not responsible for what is in my blood

  7. يا سعد أيام الصبا خلسة

    يسعد فيها كل طلق العنان

    O Saad days of innocent youth

    Where everyone is happy and carefree

  8. فاغنم لذيذ العيش واشرب على

    نبت عذار الحب بنت الدنان

    So enjoy the sweetness of life, and drink

    The fresh love, daughter of closeness

  9. شقيق حسن قده رمحه

    ولحظه منه مكان السنان

    A beautiful one, his statue is his spear

    And his glance instead of teeth

  10. اهيف يثني الدل اعطافه

    وماله في ترف الحسن ثان

    Alluring, he sways the bending branches

    And he has no equal in beauty

  11. ومن معاني اللطف في خده

    كل بديع حار فيه البيان

    And from the subtleties of his cheek

    Every eloquence is confused

  12. اضحى الهوى فني لما غدا

    له بانواع الجمال افتنان

    Passion has become an art when he walks

    With all kinds of beauty alluring

  13. وبابلي الطرف اجفانه

    عن سحر هاروت بها ترجمان

    And his glancing eyes

    Of the magic of Harut, are its interpreters

  14. إذا مشى ارتج كثيب النفا

    وفوقه من شعره ارقمان

    When he walks the sand dunes shake

    And above it are two curls of his hair

  15. ورب ليل بت اجني به

    من روضة الوصل ثمار الأمان

    And many are the nights I spent loving him

    In the garden of union, fruits of safety

  16. غاب رقيبي ولها عاذلي

    عني فبتنا منهما في أمان

    My watcher disappeared, and my lover

    We were safe from them both

  17. يسعى بشمس الراح بدر الدجى

    قد قرنا في اللهو أحلى قران

    The sun of comfort and the full moon shine

    We combined in play, the sweetest combine

  18. يزيدها الساقي بالحاظه

    سكرا فلحاسي بها نشوتان

    The cupbearer increases her share of wine

    And I almost lost consciousness from joy

  19. لله ما أحسنها ليلة

    بأن بها أنسي والهم بان

    What a beautiful night it was

    When I had company and worries disappeared

  20. كأنها من حسن إقبالها

    ليلة عرس

    As if from its good omen

    A wedding night

  21. نجل سمى المصطفى المرتضى

    قولا وفعلا بالحجا يقرنان

    Named Mustafa Al-Murtada

    In words and deeds combined with virtue

  22. محقق تلقى به المرتضى

    حيا مفيداً ظاهرا بالعيان

    A fulfilled one, Mustafa receives

    Alive and beneficial, clearly visible

  23. العالم البحر الذي قد روت

    في الفضل عنه فضلاء الزمان

    The scholar is an ocean that has watered

    The virtuous people of all eras

  24. سام كريم الذكر قد حل من

    ذرى المعالي الشم اعلى مكان

    Exalted in renown, he has reached

    The peak of glory, the highest place

  25. بحر ندى تطفح أمواجه

    بالبر والمعروف والأمتنان

    An ocean of light, its waves overflowing

    With righteousness, kindness and grace

  26. ذو القلم الأعلى الذي ان جرى

    زان بدر اللفظ لوح البيان

    The highest pen, which if it flows

    Adorns the full moon, the board of rhetoric

  27. بين الخفيات وايضاحها

    مقدار ان يمسكه بالبنان

    Clarifying the obscure, and its expressions

    Are only grasped by the certain

  28. ملؤ جفون الناس شمس الهدى

    وملؤ أجفان الضيوف الجفان

    Filling the eyes of people, the sun of guidance

    And filling their guests’ eyelids

  29. قال له الله وارشد به

    كن علماً بين البرايا فكان

    God told him, and guided through him

    Be knowledge among people, so it became

  30. فقام بالشرع واحكامه

    فاستعصمت منه بعض يمان

    So he upheld law and its rulings

    And by it, some faith was protected

  31. يستعذب المدح لساني له

    وربما مدح يمر اللسان

    My tongue tastes sweet praising him

    And sometimes praise sticks on the tongue

  32. بدر رفيع السنا

    وابناه في أوج العلا فرقدان

    A full moon, of high mark

    And his two sons at the peak of glory, resting

  33. هذا علي المستهل الندى

    اصبح والجود رضيعي لبان

    This one the shining star

    Who was born and generosity is his milk

  34. ما فيه منعيب سوى انه

    له ولوع بالعلا وافتتان

    He has no flaws but that

    He craves knowledge and is obsessed

  35. خلق وخلق حسنا بهجة

    ما أحسن الوصفين إذ يجمعان

    Created with excellent character is bliss

    How excellent are both descriptions combined
