عذبت جفني بالسهر

اهكذا من اقتدار

Sleepless nights tortured my eyes

الذنب لي لأنني

رعيت عهد من غدر

The blame is mine

For keeping faith with one who betrayed

يا ريم مالي للجفا

ولا البعاد مصطبر

O Reem, I've no excuse for abandonment

Nor resignation to separation

واحربي من شادن

غادرني على خطر

Battle those who

Left me endangered

وواغليلي للمى

مرشفه العذب الخصر

And make anguish

For one whose soft waist allures

يرنو بجفن فاتر

منتصر إذا انكسر

With a languid glance

Triumphant though broken

وينثني بقامة

يقل اعلاها قمر

And a figure that bends

Its summit brighter than any moon

فأفقه الغصن وما

له دجى سور الطرر

So I rouse the bough though

It has but the gloom of castle walls

إذا اجلت الطرف

فيه قلت ما هذا بشر

When my eyes squint at it

I say, can this be human?

يا قلب ان الصبر كا

لمحبوب خان فاستعر

O heart, patience for the beloved

Who betrayed is like borrowing flames

وقد لقيت من هواه

ما لقيت فاعتبر

And from passion for him

I've suffered, so take heed
