حماة الدين والمجد الخطير

نفيراً فالسعادة بالنفير

Defenders of the perilous religion and glory

Come on, for happiness is in coming together

فقد زحمت من الغرب الدياجي

لتذهب بالضياء المستنير

The gloomy West has become crowded

To take away the enlightened light

وهذا دين خير الرسل طه

ينادي فيكم هل من نصير

And this is the religion of the best Messenger Taha

Calling you: Is there anyone to help?

بلاد السملمين بكل قطر

مهددة العواصم والثغور

The Muslim countries in every place

Their capitals and borders are threatened

فكيف وانتم الصيد الغيارى

ذوو الاحساب والعدد الكثير

So how, while you are ferocious prey

Owners of reputations and large numbers

صبرتم للبغاث فحام حوماً

على أوكان جارحة الصقور

You were patient towards contemptible insects

Hovering over eagles’ nests?

وعاث بغابة الآساد وحش

قديماً كان يهزم بالزئير

And in the lions’ jungle a vicious beast

Used to be defeated by just a roar

فتلك ممالك الأسلام تشكو

حلول الويل منهم والثبور

So those kingdoms of Islam complain

Of calamities and sorrows coming upon them from the enemy

فاصبحت الجوامع دارسات

بتعمير الكنائس والديور

Mosques have become ruined

With churches and monasteries reconstructed

وكم قد جاءنا منهم نذير

فلم تصغ المسامع للنذير

And many a warner has come to us from them

But the ears did not listen to the warner

وليس كمثل هذا اليوم يوم

فقد جاؤا بقاصمة الظهور

And today is not like any other day

For they have come with irresistible power

أقول لسائلي عن سرّ حرب

أثيرت قد سقطت على الخبير

I say to those who ask about the secret of war

Which has been stirred up over the experts

حديث الحرب يعرب عن شجون

وان كثرت أقاويل الغرور

The talk of war expresses grievances

Even if the delusions are many

فلا استعمار أرض حاولوه

ولا توسيع سلطان كبير

For they sought neither colonization

Nor expanding great dominion

ولكن لأغتيال الدين جاؤا

ليطفوا من سناه أي نور

Rather they came to assassinate the religion

To extinguish any light from its radiance

وقالوا لا يزال الغرب يسعى

من الإسلام في نهج عثور

And they said the West will always strive

To trip the Muslims and impede them

وما للمسلمين من اهتمام

لهم الا ملاقات السفير

And the Muslims have no concern for them

Except meeting the ambassadors

وما مثل الحسام لنا سفير

فان بحدّه حسم الامور

Ambassadors are not our swords,

which settle matters with their sharpness

لقد بلغ الزبى سيل الاعادي

فضاق بسيلهم رحب الصدور

The enemy has reached the point

That hearts are too narrow for their flood

فهلا تصدقون القوم ضرباً

تسيل عليه أودية النحور

So why don’t you preemptively strike them

Until valleys of death flow over them?

إذا الف الدني حياة ذل

فموت العز أولى بالغيور

If living life in humiliation

Then dying honorably is better for the zealous

لقد حلوا طرابلساً فاضحت

مرامي للشهاب المستطير

Indeed they entered Tripoli and it became

A target for the swiftly fired flames

فقامت دونها عرب كرام

تجالد بالمهندة الذكور

So Arab heroes rose up to protect it

With slaughter from the spears of brave men

والت غير حانئة بان لا

يكون لهم بها غير القبور

Swearing there would be nothing for the enemy

But the grave in it

رجال طيبهم نقع المذاكي

كأن النقع نفاح العبير

Men whose nature is the scent of misk

As though scent were the perfume of musk

إذا كلمت وجوه القوم خاضوا

غمار الموت مبتسمي الثغور

When talking with them they rush

Into the sea of death smiling

فكم حشدوا على ورد المنايا

كما حشد الظماء علىالنمير

So many of them crowded over the rose of death

As the thirsty crowd on top of the flowing spring

اشعب الظالمين وذلك اسم

يبين عن مسماه الحقير

Those tyrannical aggressors - and that is a name

Showing its insignificant bearer

هجمت على طرابلس هجوماً

وسمت به أوربا بالشرور

They attacked Tripoli savagely

Branding Europe as evil

وقالوا انما جئنا لعدل

فاجلى القول عن كذب وزور

And they claimed: “We came only for justice”

So clear away the speech of lies and falsehood!

فتلك بأرض ايران تجلت

براهين العدالة بالسفور

For in Iran that “justice” revealed itself

In tyranny and treachery

فحلت بالشمال الروس رغماص

عن استقلالها دهر الدهور

So in the North the ruthless Russians seized it

Denying it independence for ages

وسارت بالجنوب بغير عذر

جنود الانكليز ولا عذير

And in the South the English army marched

Without reason or excuse

فسل تبريز عما كابدته

ففي انبائها جزع الصبور

Ask Tabriz about what afflictions it faced

For its stories distress even the patient

كأني بالمدافع وهي ترمي

فتصعف بالجوامع والقصور

It is though I see the canons bombarding

Weakening the mosques and palaces

إذا رعدت اجابتها خفوقاً

قلوب الغيد ربات الخدور

Whenever they roar the hearts of the protected ones

Are frightened - the ladies of the quarters

فلهفي للخدور بغير حام

يذبّ عن الحريم ولا خفير

So my burning passion goes to the quarters

With no guardian to protect the womenfolk

إذا فزع الصغير إلى كبير

اريق دم الصغير على الكبير

If a small boy hastens to a grown man

The small boy’s blood spills over the grown man

باعلام الهدى لما استجارت

رأت منهم غياث المتسجير

When they sought protection with the banners of guidance

They saw no rescue coming from them

فقد قاموا اعتضاداً وانتصارا

لدين محمد الهادي البشير

Rather they stood in order to support

The religion of Muhammad the heralding guide

دجى ليل النوائب فاستضيئوا

بانوار الكواكب والبدور

The gloom of tribulations grew dark

So they illuminated themselves with the stars and orbs

هم العلماء حقاً فاتبعوهم

فانهم على الحق المنير

They are truly the scholars so follow them

For they are upon enlightened truth

أطيعوا أولياء الأمر منكم

ففيهم طاعة الملك القدير

Obey those in authority over you

For obeying them is obeying the Powerful King

فما دار السعادة غير قطب

بإسلام البسيطة مستدير

The abode of happiness is no other goal

Except the turning axis of magnificent Islam

قصارى الحي في الدنيا فناء

فكيف نضن بالعمر القصير

The best life in the world passes away

So why be deluded with the short lifetime?

بإحدى الحسنيين لنا وثوق

وفي كلتيهما نيل السرور

We have firm confidence in one of the two bounties

And in them both, attainment of bliss:

فاما بالشهادة وهي نعمى

واما بالسعادة والظهور

Either through martyrdom and that is my blessing

Or through victory and success

فتهضاً ملة الإسلام نهضاً

بكل مدجج اسد هصور

So rise, O Islamic nation, rise

Every strong lion roars

تراع الحرب منه بمستميت

يلاقي الموت في طرف قرير

War is made cautious by those rushing to death

Meeting their end with a cheerful wink

ونفس قد شراها الله منه

بنعمى جنة ووصال حور

Their souls Allah has bought from them

With the blessings of Paradise and damsels

فقل للهاجمين حذار يوم

عبوس الوجه صعب قمطرير

So say to the invaders: Beware a day

When the faces are angry and frowning

بيوم ينهض الإسلام فيه

فيصرخ قائلا يا أرض مورى

On the day when Islam in it rises up

Shouting: O sparkling land!

هنالك لا يرون الهند الا

سيوف الهند ساطعة السعير

There the India they know is none but

The flashing Indian swords

وتنقض ثورة القوقاس نقضاً

صروح الروس بالعزم المثير

The Caucasas revolt collapses

The Russian bastions with the stirring resolve

وتبتدر الكتائب من بخارى

فمن افغان بالجم الغفير

And the brigades hustle from Bukhara

From Afghanistan with the immense army

وتنفي الاحتلاليين مصر

فتثبت مجدها بعد الدثور

And it expels the occupiers from Egypt

Establishing its glory after ruin

فتونس فالجزائر سائرات

الينا سير منتصر ظهير

Tunisia and Algeria travel onwards

To us in the path of a triumphant ally

وتشعر بالذي لقيت وقاست

مراكش وهي غائبة الشعور

And Morocco feels what it has met and endured

While absent-minded not knowing

فيغدوا المغرب الاقصى قريباً

يواسي الشرق باليوم العسير

So the Morocco far west will soon

Comfort the East in the difficult time
