1. لك الشرف الباقي وان رغم العدى

    ابي الله الا ان تدوم مخلدا

    You have the lasting honor though the enemy objects,

    My God does not accept but that it lasts forever glorified,

  2. ترديت بالمجد الاثيل ومالهم

    إذا اجتذبوا ذاك الرداء سوى الردى

    They have fallen into decline though they wear the garb of glory,

    When they don that gown besides decline what do they have?

  3. وما أنت الا الشمس في الأرض مالها

    غناً عن سواها فهي تطلع سرمدا

    You are but the sun on earth, it needs no other,

    It rises eternal, shining evermore,

  4. وما لنظام الكون غيرك كافل

    لك الله فاسلم كي نعيش ونسعدا

    None maintains the order of the universe but you

    God bless you, so we may live and prosper

  5. بنورك تهدي من اضل سبيله

    وفي الدين والدنيا بطلعتك الهدى

    With your light you guide those who lose their path

    In religion and worldly affairs your radiance is guidance

  6. نشرت لواء العدل في كل بلدة

    وساويت فيها بالمسود المسودا

    You have raised the banner of justice in every land

    And made the noble and ignoble equal

  7. واسبغت ظل الامن فيها فلم يخف

    شذاتك الا زائغ جار واعتدى

    You have bestowed the shade of security there, so none fears

    Save those deviants who transgress and impose

  8. وقد زعم الاعداء انك عثرة

    الا لا اقال الله عثرة من عدا

    The enemies claim you are an obstacle

    Far from it! May God spare us their enmity

  9. طلعت بعلم مستنير عليهم

    وقد كابدوا ليلا من الجهل اسودا

    You have risen with enlightened knowledge over them

    While they endured a long dark night of ignorance

  10. لك الفضل والاحسان في مدنية

    بها لبسوا برد الرقي المجددا

    To you belongs virtue and benevolence in civilization

    In which they don the garment of splendid renewal

  11. جزى الله عنك الظالمين نكاية

    تقوض من بنيانهم ما تشيدا

    May God reward you for the oppressors, destroying

    What they build of their edifice

  12. بما اقتبسوا من نور كتبك جهزوا

    كتائب تذكو نارهن توقدا

    With what they drew of your light they equipped

    Battalions whose fires they keep stoked

  13. وكم قد سعوا يا خيب الله سعيهم

    وغادر ذاك الشمل منهم مبددا

    How they have striven - would that God thwart their efforts!

    And that discordant band disperses scattered

  14. يرومون منا ان نعيش اذلة

    وينقاد منا كل صعب معبّدا

    They want us to live humiliated

    And every unyielding soul bows tamed

  15. ومن دون خلع العز لبس عجاجة

    تمج ببيض الهند اشقر مزبدا

    Without removing the mantle of honor he wears the plumage

    That adorns the eggs of the Indian ostrich white and viscous

  16. وما نقموا منا سوى الدين انه

    قذى يعتري طرفاً من الشرك ارمدا

    They resent nothing in us but religion, which is

    An obstruction vexing to their squinting polytheism

  17. فكم جهدوا ان ينقضوا منه مبرما

    وان يهدموا منه بناء موطدا

    How they have struggled to demolish its sanctity

    And raze its firm structure

  18. ولولا دفاع الله عن سرح دينه

    لعاث به الوحش الذي بات مرصدا

    Were it not for God's defense of the pasture of His faith

    The beasts lurking would have wreaked havoc

  19. إذا قصد التثليث دين محمد

    بسوء ابي التوحيد الا محمدا

    When they approach the religion of Muhammad's

    Pure monotheism - none but Muhammad!

  20. وكعبتنا من شاهق العز في حمى

    تحدر عنه كل من جاء مصعدا

    Our Kaaba in lofty honor protected

    Every climber descends from it

  21. وطيبة قد عزت واضحى منالها

    على الرجس من نيل الكواكب ابعدا

    Tayba has gained might and its gifts

    Are far from the filth of celestial bodies

  22. وان نفوس المسلمين جميعها

    فداء لأرض ضمت الطهر أحمدا

    The souls of all Muslims

    Are ransoms for the land that harbored the Pure Ahmad

  23. وما اجمات الاسد الا مشاهد

    باعتابها تهوى الجبابر سجدا

    The grinding stones require only scenes

    At which formidable heroes bow down prostrate

  24. على جثث القتلىطريق اجتيازهم

    إليها يدوسون القنا المتقصدا

    Upon the corpses of those who died reaching it

    They tread the path to it, intent on their goal

  25. أتمنع يا ثغر العراق فتحتمي

    بعزك أم تعطي على ذلة يدا

    Will you withhold, O portal of Iraq, seeking protection

    In your might or grant concession in humiliation?

  26. فإن تكن الأولى فيا رب موطن

    شهدت فأضحى للحفيظة مشهدا

    If the former, O Lord of the place

    That witnessed - it has become a scene for the self-denying

  27. وان تكن الأخرى فانك جالب

    على العرب الأمجاد عارا مخلدا

    If the latter you bring upon the Arabs endless

    Shame and eternal disgrace

  28. ألا إنه يوم المحامد فاستبق

    إلى الحمد واحذر ان تذم به غدا

    It is a day of praise - race unto

    Praise and beware you blame it tomorrow

  29. أسرت معالي أمة عربية

    فاطلق أسيرا في حماك مقيدا

    You have taken captive the heights of the Arab nation

    So release the captive in your protection, fettered

  30. وان أسير المجد غال فداؤه

    وليس سوى بذل النفوس له فدا

    The captive of glory is costly to free

    And nothing ransoms him but sacrificing souls

  31. فيا معشر العرب البواسل جردوا

    ضباً آذنتها الحرب ان تتجردا

    O Arabs of mettle, unsheathe

    Swords summoned by war to unsheathe

  32. تعودتم خوض الغمار وانما

    لكل امرئ من دهره ما تعودا

    You are accustomed to plunging into the fray, for

    Each person has what they are wont to do

  33. فما العز إلا ان تشام وتنتضي

    وما الذل إلا ان تشام وتغمدا

    Glory is to persevere and recover

    While humiliation is to despair and submit

  34. وما هي إلا جولة الخيل شزبا

    عوادي يحملن الوشيج المسددا

    It is but a cavalry charge - they bear

    Spears thrust by hands expert and precise

  35. وهبوا لها شيباً ومردا فإنكم

    امام عدو قد طغى وتمردا

    Charge it, whether youth or experienced

    For you face an arrogant transgressing enemy

  36. ولا تلبسوا إلا القلوب فإنها

    سرابيل بأس لا الدلاص المسرادا

    Wear nothing but courage, for it is

    Armor of might, not fiimsy linked mail

  37. بكل فتى يمشي العرضنة في الوغى

    ويمضي إذا الهيابة النكس عردا

    With every young man who shows valor in battle

    And presses on when the timid turn tail

  38. مطاعين تحمر القنا في اكفهم

    وتخضر منها بالجود والندا

    Obeyed, their palms redden the spears

    Which their munificence verdantens

  39. بآية من سيم الظلامة منكم

    تنمروا ستعدى الحسام المهندا

    With a sign from you the darkness will be dispelled

    And bared blades will flash lightning

  40. إلام وكم نغضي الجفون على القذا

    ألم يأن ان نستوبئ الذل موردا

    Why do we squeeze our eyes shut at humiliation?

    Has not the time come to reject disgrace?

  41. وقد وعد الرحمن نصرة دينه

    ولن يخلف الرحمن للنصر موعدا

    The Merciful has promised to aid His faith

    And the Merciful never breaks a promise

  42. لك الخير كن فيه المفدى وانني

    أعيذك فيه أن تكون المفندا

    May you have all good - be therein ransomed

    And I seek refuge for you against being a saboteur

  43. أفي كل يوم في صميم وانني

    رواح لغارات الصليب ومغتدى

    Each day my core is in tatters as I

    Fend off Crusader raids and transgression

  44. مراكش تشكو والجزائر مثلها

    تكايد ما يفري قلوبا واكبدا

    Morocco complains - and likewise Algiers -

    Plotted against in ways that rend hearts and livers

  45. وتونس بعد الأنس أوحش ربعها

    وأصبح فيها الجو اقتم أربدا

    Tunis - after intimacy its quarters are desolate

    Its weather has grown darker and colder

  46. وان شئت ان تذري على الدين عبرة

    على ان فيض الدمع لا ينقع الصدا

    If you wish to shed tears over the faith take note

    But copious tears accomplish nothing

  47. فعج في طرابلس وقف متلهفا

    على ربع مجد قد عفا وتابدا

    Stop in Tripoli, stand grieving

    Over its vanished glory, ruined and decayed

  48. وما نسيت بالروملي وقائع

    يطيش عليها حلم من قد تجلدا

    Nor have I forgotten events in Romania

    To which the forebearing are driven mad

  49. وفي الهند فاصرف نحوها العين كي ترى

    بها الظلم يبدو للعيان مجسدا

    And in India - turn your eyes to see

    Injustice manifest, embodied

  50. وقد خملت بعد النباهة والعلا

    وقد املقت بعد الرغائب والجدا

    It has declined after splendor and heights

    And spurned after desires and effort

  51. واغنى بلاد الله كانت وعهدها

    قريب فاضحت للخصاصة معهدا

    The richest of God's lands it was, recently,

    Now it is a refuge for destitution

  52. جواهرها عادت لجورج غنيمة

    يحلى بها تاج العلاء المنضدا

    Its treasures have reverted to George as spoils

    Adorning the crowned elite's bejeweled crowns

  53. وان جئت مصرا وهي دار فضيلة

    بها القوم قد طابوا نجارا ومحتدا

    And if you come to Egypt, home of virtue

    Where the people prosper and excel

  54. فابلغ رجال الحل والعقد منهم

    نشيد لهيف يقذف الجمر منشدا

    Convey to the influential and elite among them

    Words that hurl embers chanted in verse

  55. وقل لهم كيف الرقاد على الذي

    يبيت كريم القوم منه مسهدا

    And say to them: how can you sleep through

    The humiliation of the noble amidst you?

  56. وقد تم على شوك الهوان كانكم

    سقيتم ولا ساق سوى العجز مرقدا

    It is as if you have been made to drink the dregs

    Of wretchedness, having no recourse but prostration

  57. هلموا لكي نسترجع المجد والعلى

    وينصر منا البعض بعضاً ويسعدا

    Come, let us regain glory and supremacy

    With some of us aiding others, attaining bliss

  58. فان التي كنتم ترومون نيلها

    دنا شأوها منكم وقد كان ابعدا

    For that which you have sought to attain

    Has come within reach, though distant before

  59. لنا باجتماع الشمل عز وانه

    اساس عليه عزنا قد تمهدا

    Our unity gives us might, its foundation

    Is the groundwork upon which our glory is built

  60. وما اقتنص الاعداء منا سوى الذي

    يشذّ فيغدوا ضاحياً متفردا

    The enemies have seized from us only what

    Strays to become a lone recluse

  61. ومن كان عيش الذل غاية قصده

    فلا حاز مأمولا ولا نال مقصدا

    He whose goal is a life of disgrace

    Attains neither hopes nor aims

  62. ومن سكنت جنبيه نفس كريمة

    يعيش كريماً أو يموت فيحمدا

    He in whose soul nobility resides

    Lives nobly or dies praiseworthy

  63. إذا الشعب لم يشعب صدوع كيانه

    بحد الضبا راح الكيان مهددا

    When the people do not mend the cracks in their nation

    With sharp swords, the entity becomes threatened

  64. فلا تجعلوا غير العزائم عصمة

    ولا تطلبوا غير الصوارم منجدا

    Make nothing but resolute determination your protection

    And seek nothing but bared blades as support

  65. وما كالحسام العضب للداء حاسم

    وناهيك بالآسي إذا هوجردا

    Nothing kills disease like the polished sword

    And nothing need be said of the courageous warrior when he bares

  66. به يتجلى الحق ابلج واضحاً

    سناه ببرق من شباه توقدا

    Through it truth emerges most radiant

    Its brightness kindled with flashes of lightning flames
