أصابت سهام الحتف يا حسرة الدهر
صريح قريش والخلاصة من فهر
The arrows of fate have struck, O what a regretful life
The eloquent one of Quraysh and the essence of Fahr
لقد نثل الدهر الكنانة رامياً
حشاشة نفس من كنانة والنضر
Time has exemplified throwing like an archer
The ferocious soul of Kanana and Nadr
نعى البرق غيث الناس في كل أزمة
وعهدي به قبلا يبشر بالقطر
The lightning lamented the rain of people in every crisis
And I know it used to give good tidings of rainfall before
وقد حملت أسلاكه نبأ به
تقصف اسلاك الأضالع والصدر
It has carried the news about him in its wires
That tear up the ribs and the chest
نعى وهو لم يعرف حقيقة من نعى
إلى الناس والرامي يصيب ولا يدري
It lamented him without knowing who it lamented
To the people, while the archer hits without knowing
فلا شيء أقوى منه إذ خف سائراً
بخطب وهي فيه الشديد من الأسر
Nothing is stronger than it when it moves lightly
With news that are most agonizing
وبرقية في قلب كل موحد
لها قبسات من ضرام ومن حرّ
And a telegram in the heart of every monotheist
That has glimpses of Dir’am and Harr
مضى علم الاعلام والآية التي
حوت حكماً أجلت عن العدو الحصر
The master sign has passed away and the verse
That contained wisdom, deferred the besieging enemy
وقد غاب عن أفق الهداية نير
يجل عن التشبيه بالشمس والبدر
The lamp has disappeared from the horizon of guidance
It was too great to compare to the sun or the moon
تنكر وجه الصبح يوم وفاته
وفي الوجه عنوان السلامة والنكر
The face of dawn denied him when he passed away
In it is the mark of greetings and denial
وروعنا رأد الضحى ثم صرّحت
ظهيرته فينا بقاصمة الظهر
The morning blinked and its return clarified
Among us with the back-breaker
بكى الركن حزناً والمقام برّحت
رزية اسماعيل بالبيت والحجر
The pillar cried in sorrow and the standing place
Saddened for the calamity of Ismail in the house and the stone
وقد أوحش المحراب حزناً لقائم
به الليل يحيى بالصلاة وبالذكر
The prayer niche has been deserted in grief for its standing one
Who used to enliven it with night prayer and remembrance
فقيد نسينا آية الصبر بعده
فهل نسخت من بعده آية الصبر
We forgot the verse of patience after him
Has the verse of patience been abrogated after him?
فمن لمحاريب التقى ومجارس
مكللة أعوادها منه بالدر
Who will light the niches of piety and the praying grounds
Crowned by its woods with his pearls
محياه يتلو آية النور هادياً
ويتلو علينا مجده آية الطهر
His life reciting the verse of light guiding
And reciting his glory to us the verse of purity
أصورته هاتيك أم هي سورة
لناظرها أجر التلاوة والذكر
Is that his image or is it a chapter
For its viewer with the reward of reciting and remembrance
فيا جوهراً زان الوجود بهاؤه
وسبحان بارى جوهر اللطف والبر
O essence that existence is beautified by its splendor
And glory be to the Maker of the essence of kindness and righteousness
فغالت به الاقدار واستأثرت به
وقد كان أهلا للمغالات بالقدر
His worth has been so great and he was exclusively distinguished
And he was worthy of such distinction and decree
لقد كان في الدنيا منار هداية
به يهتدي في ظلمة الليل من يسري
He was in life a beacon of guidance
By it those who walk in the darkness of night are guided
وغامضة لا يدرك الفكر نهجها
أنار دياجيها بثاقبة الفكر
Profound, the mind cannot perceive its approach
He illuminated its thick darkness with his penetrating mind
يعز على الإسلام فقد حميه
وناصره إن قيل أين أولو النصر
It is hard on Islam to lose its protector
And its supporter if it is said where are the victorious supporters
أقول وقد ساروا به يحملونه
إلى القبر مإذا تحملون إلى القبر
I say as they walk with him bearing him
To the grave what are you carrying to the grave
حملتم يداً بيضاء كانت بجودها
على السنة الشهباء أندى من القطر
You carried a white hand that was with its generosity
Dewier on the hoary tradition than rainfall
طواه الردى طي الرداء وذكره
بنشر المساعي لم يزل طيب النشر
Time has folded it like folding a gown and his remembrance
With spreading efforts has always been good spreading
رأيت حياة المرء ظلا وإنما
تدوم حياة المرء بالحمد والذكر
I saw the life of a person as a shadow and indeed
One’s life lasts with praise and remembrance
ثمانون حولا قد طواهن قائماً
بتشييد دين الله بورك من عمر
Eighty years he stood fulfilling
The building of God’s religion – blessed is the age
ولله نفس أخلص الله سرّها
فيا قدّست نفساً وقدّس من سرّ
And to God is a soul that God sanctified its secret
So sanctified is the soul and the one who sanctified the secret
أمن عنصري ماء وطين تكونت
خلائق أم صيغت سبائك من تبر
Was it made of my water and clay elements
Or molded castings from dust
وبالخلف الباقي لنا خير سلوة
وإن كان لا يسلى الفقيد مدى الدهر
And in the remaining successor there is good solace for us
Though the deceased cannot be consoled for ever
فما أفلت شمس الامامة والهدى
عن الأفق حتى أشرق الكوكب الدري
The sun of leadership and guidance has not disappeared
From the horizon until the shining planet appeared
وما جن ليل الخطب حتى تصدّعت
دجى الليل بالمهدي عن فلق الفجر
The darkness of night has not condensed until
It cracked by the dawn with the Mahdi the splitter of dawn
إذا ما ابو المهدي ودّع راحلا
فمهديها من بعده صاحب الأمر
When the father of Mahdi bids farewell departing
After him is the Mahdi of it the man of the command
يجود رياض الفقه صيب علمه
فتزهو رياض الفقه بهجة الزهر
The meadows of jurisprudence bloom the drizzle of his knowledge
So the meadows of jurisprudence bloom the delight of flowers
ولو لم يمد البحر زاخر فضله
لما قيل في الامثال حدّث عن البحر
Had the sea not extended the abundant favor
It would not be said in proverbs “talk about the sea”
فيا سائلاً عن اسرة المجد والعلا
وأهل العلوم الغر والأوجه الغر
O you who ask about the family of glory, knowledge,
Secrets, unique faces and pride
هم آل صدر الدين فاقصدهم تجد
منار الهدى والعلم والمجد والفخر
They are the family of Sadr ad-Din so seek them you will find
The beacon of guidance, knowledge, glory, and pride
مصابيح إيمان مفاتيح حكمة
لهم ألسن بالحق تنطق عن خبر
Lamps of faith keys of wisdom
Their tongues speak truth of news
نوال بلا من وحكم بلا هوى
وحلم بلا ذل وعز بلا كبر
Bestowal without fatigue, judgment without passion
Wisdom without foolishness, dignity without arrogance
إذا مات منهم سيد قام سيد
ففي كل عصر منهم بهجة العصر
If one of their masters passes, a master rises
So in every time they are the splendor of the time
رسالة شرع المصطفى اليوم فوضت
إلى الحسن الزاكي النقيبة والنجر
The message of the Mustafa’s law has been entrusted today
To the good, the pure, the chosen one
هو الحبر إلا أن آيات فضله
محررة بالنور لا النقش والحبر
He is the expert though the verses of his virtues
Are written in light not inscription and ink
وبالندب صدر الدين يعتصم الرجا
واعظم به ذخراً لملتمس الذخر
In lamenting Sadr ad-Din hopes take refuge
And make it the greatest treasure for the seeker of treasure
أرى الدين قلباً وهو صدر يصونه
حفاظاً وهل قلب يصان بلا صدر
I see religion as a heart and he is a chest protecting it
Guarding, and which heart can be guarded without a chest?
ومن بالغ شأو الجواد وحيدر
لدى حلبات العلم بالجري والكرّ
Who has known the merit of Jud and Haidar
In the battlefields of knowledge with running and attack
فداموا دوام الانجم الزهر في السما
على انهم أهدى من الانجم الزهر
They remain forever like the shining stars in the sky
As they are more guiding than the shining stars
