اشاقتك صبا نجد
فهاجت لاعج الوجد
The longing for you rose in Najd,
It arose and caused an intense love.
سرت مسكية الانفا
س تذكو بشذى الند
The scent of musk spread,
It will remind you of the fragrance of dew.
سقى الغيث مغانيها
التي طال بها عهدي
The rain watered its melodies,
which I have longed for so long.
وما أنس فلا أنسى
زمان الاجرع الفرد
I do not forget, nor can I forget,
the time of loneliness and solitude.
وقد مر كما مر
قصيرا زمن الورد
It passed as it had to pass,
the short time of roses.
بسفح البان هيفاء
كغصن البان في القدّ
On the slopes of Baan, gracefully,
like a branch of Baan in coagulation.
لها ريق على ما
شهد المسواك من شهد
It has a saliva for what
the toothbrush witnessed of honey.
ولما سرت العيس
بهم يوم اللوى تخدي
When she walked gracefully,
on the day of parting and bidding farewell.
وفي الركب من الغيد
كعاب صلتة الخد
Among the caravan of the beautiful maiden
like beads on a necklace.
وهند دون لقيا
ها قنا الخط ضبا الهند
A girl of Bani Saad,
around whom Bani Saad is proud.
فتاة من بني سعد
بها حفت قنا سعد
The glory of roses is to be picked
in sight of the mighty lion.
وعز الورد ان يجنى
بمرأى الاسد الورد
Nothing remains except a forbidden glance
of greeting and response.
ولم يبق سوى نظرة
ممنوع عن الورد
Yearning fell from my eyelids
with the falling of pearls from a necklace.
وترديد اشارات
من التسليم والرد
I see my eyes and the stars
as allies against insomnia.
هوى من جفني الد
مع هويّ الدر من عقد
By God, I have not found
anyone to console between or reconnect.
ارى طرفي والنجم
حليفين على السهد
It has perished, does the slain
lover of love intentionally perish?
الا الله ما لاقيت
من بين ومن صد
My debt is unpaid,
nor did I fulfill my promise to them.
وقد أودى فهل يود
قتيل الحب عن عمد
So tell the blamer, scolding
my agony and effort:
ولم يقض لي الدين
ولم ينجز بهم وعدي
My heart belongs to my beloved,
and none but my beloved is in my heart.
فقل للائم اللاحي
على اللوعة والجهد
My fate is to remain
a hostage of separation and distance.
فؤادي عند من اهوى
وما غير الهوى عندي
And my opponent's judgement today -
who of people can I blame?
قضى دهري ان ابقى
رهين البين والبعد
Still, my days
have a beautiful making and gift:
وخصمي الحكم اليوم
فاي الناس استعدى
The return of Al-Qasim the bountiful,
and the wedding of the rightly guided Al-Majid.
على ان لأيامي
جميل الصنع والرفد
So it shone at the peak
of glories, the moon of Saad.
بعود القاسم الوفر
وعرس الماجد الرشدي
And life was good in the shadow
of blessings, tranquility and luxury.
فقد اشرق في أوج
المعالي قمر السعد
Through my father Ahmad
I attained the hopes of my affectionate brother.
وطاب العيش في ظل
من النعمة والرغد
And glory doubled its favors
with the unique, noble branch of knowledge.
ونيلت بأبي أحمد
آمال اخي الود
Generous of origin and ancestry,
noble of father and grandfather.
وثنى المجد عطفيه
بعود العلم الفرد
Capacious of self and abode,
hospitable to guests and visitors.
كريم الفرع والاصل
شريف الأب والجد
He has a fire of villages he kindles
with good lineage and ancestry.
رحيب النفس والأ
ربع بالأضياف والوفد
The Sunnah calls him
to its illuminated paths for guidance.
له نار قرى يوقد
ها بالحسب العد
So say to the rider crossing
from Ghawr to Najd -
لها السنة تدعوا
لمداليج فتستهدي
He sensed and passed
the ritual place, so be comforted at the tent.
فقل للراكب المدلج
من غور إلى نجد
May God guide you, you have attained
success, o son of Mahdi.
وقد آنس ومضى
العرف فاستأنس بالوخد
Repel the harm of his right hand,
the sea cannot avail against it.
هداك الله قد نلت
نجاحاً بأبي المهدي
He precedes to the goals
with ease, not with effort.
فرد جدوى يمين
عن نداها البحر لا يجدي
What can his neighbor possess
other than anxiety and misery?
له السبق إلى الغايا
ت عفواً غير ذي جهد
Can one attain the speed
of lightning by running and exertion?
فما يملك من جاراه
غير الهم والكدّ
Where are flowers and heights
from pebbles and lowlands?
وهل يدرك شأو
البرق بالجري وبالشدّ
They are the masters and leaders,
of venerable age and refuge.
وأين الزهر والأوج
من الحصباء والوهد
People who have remained
the people of solutions and ties.
هم السادة والقادة
من شيب ومن مرد
For them in the course of their days
is a chain of glory.
أناس لم تزل فيهم
رجال الحل والعقد
In their white hands
is the clarity of bright faces.
لهم في دور أيامهم
سلسلة المجد
For their newborn son is
a sign of superiority in the cradle.
على بيض أياديهم
جلاء الأوجه الربد
It is no wonder, for in youth
are shadows of the lion.
على مولودهم باد
دليل الفضل في المهد
The days have met in him
a pillar that does not sway.
ولا بدع ففي الأشبا
ل اشباه من الاسد
The steadfastness of a lion does not bend
towards anything but purpose.
وقد لاقت به الايا
م ركناً غير منهد
And the purest gold was
in the fire of his determination.
ثبات الليث لا يلوي
على شيء سوى القصد
Does the refined gold fear
when purified from impurities?
وكان الذهب الابر
يز في ذاكية الوقد
It contains praise, so it did not regret
what was missed of fervor.
وهل يخشى على التبر
إذا هذب من نقد
Why would it care for wealth?
So what excuse do the envious have?
حوى المدح فلم يأسف
على ما فات من وجد
Does anything but bleary eyes
hate the light of the sun?
وهل يحفل بالمال
فما عذر ذوي الحقد
O Abu Ahmad, you remain
lofty in cold and heat.
وهل يبغض ضوء الشم
سِ غير الاعين الرمد
Noble of soul and neighbor,
noble in example and generosity.
أبا أحمد لازلت من
العلياء في برد
For you are ascendance and glory,
from ascendance and glory.
عزيز النفس والجار
عزيز المثل والند
With a wedding of everlasting joy,
blossoming with Saad.
لك الأقبال والجد
من الاقبال والجد
And congratulatory breaths lasted,
from the sheikh and the young man.
بعرس دائم البهجة
زاه زاهر السعد
ودامت للتهاني نفحات
الشيخ والرند
