إذا جئت مصر واحياءها

فحي الديار وحي السكن

When you come to Egypt, and its neighborhoods,

Greet the homes and greet the dwellings,

وقال اطلقوا أيها الماجدون

من الأسر مجدكم المرتهن

And say, "Oh you honorable ones, be released

From captivity, your imprisoned glory."

إذا المن اصبح شبه المحال

فان النفوس فداء الوطن

When hope becomes nearly impossible,

Then souls are ransom for the nation.

دعوا السيف يصدع بالانكليز

بالفصل فهو الفصيح اللسن

Let the sword shatter the English

With separation, for it is most eloquent.

ايبقى حديث العلا بينكم

سراراً وهذا أوان العلن

Let talk of rising remain between you

Secretly, for now is the time of openness.

وان حياة الفتى مالها

سوى العز أو موتها من ثمن

For the life of a young man is worthless

Except for honor, or death as its price.

ومن يشر بالعز عيش الذليل

فذاك الخسار وذاك الغبن

And he who tolerates dishonor living as a coward

Is the loser and the cheated.
