كانَ اِبنُ ذَكوانَ مَطوِيّاً عَلى حُرَقٍ
فَقَد تَبَيَّنَ لَمّا كُشِّفَ الحُرَقُ
Ibn Dhakwān lay folded over burning rancors;
he stood revealed when those rancors were laid bare.
وَكانَ ذا خُلُقٍ لا دينَ يَخلِطُهُ
فَأَصبَحَ اليَومَ لا دينٌ وَلا خُلُقُ
He once had character, with no faith mixed into it;
and today he has neither faith nor character.
