O man, never utter a word
O man, do not utter a word,
when you do not know what in it may bring you reproach.
You know not if it will be against you.
Hold fast to silence; in silence there is wisdom.
Remain silent, for in silence there is wisdom.
And when you do speak a word, weigh it well.
When you speak weigh your words,
And when the people raise a clamor in talk
If others babble nonsense,
that does not concern you, turn away from it.
Pay no heed, turn away.
